Synx Data Labs to Present at Community Over Code Asia 2026

Synx Data Labs CTO Shine Zhang will present SynxDB CE for Apache Cloudberry (Incubating) at Community Over Code Asia 2026 in Beijing, August 7–9.

At Synx Data

Synx Data Labs is proud to announce our participation in Community Over Code Asia 2026, where our CTO and co-founder Shine Zhang will take the stage to share our latest work on SynxDB Community Edition for Apache Cloudberry (Incubating).

Community Over Code Asia 2026

Community Over Code Asia is the premier open-source conference in Asia, hosted by the Apache Software Foundation. This year’s event takes place August 7–9, 2026 in Beijing, bringing together developers, committers, maintainers, and open-source enthusiasts from around the world. With tracks spanning data lakes, observability, incubating projects, and more, the event offers a unique opportunity to learn from domain experts and connect with the global Apache community.

Our Talk: Build Once, Run on Any Linux

We are thrilled to share that Synx Data Labs CTO and co-founder Shine Zhang will present a session titled:

“Build Once, Run on Any Linux: SynxDB CE for Apache Cloudberry (Incubating)”

Time: August 9, 2026 — 15:45 GMT+8

Track: Incubator | Room: Mtn YuQuan Hall

In this talk, Shine will walk through the engineering behind SynxDB CE, our Community Edition of Apache Cloudberry. Rather than chasing a dozen distro-specific packages, our team adopted a “build once, run anywhere” strategy — bundling the entire toolchain, targeting glibc 2.17 as the ABI floor, and verifying portability as a CI gate. The result: a single binary tree that produces both RPM and DEB artifacts, running on any Linux with a recent enough glibc. Attendees will hear a candid account of what worked, what didn’t, and the lessons learned along the way.

About the Speaker

Shine Zhang — CTO and co-founder of Synx Data Labs. Former Pivotal/VMware Greenplum engineer, PostgreSQL contributor, and a long-time participant in the Greenplum / Cloudberry lineage. Shine leads Synx’s upstream contributions to Apache Cloudberry (Incubating) and the SynxDB Community Edition release pipeline.

Our Commitment to Apache Cloudberry

Several members of the Synx Data Labs team were among the original initiators of Apache Cloudberry (Incubating) — a Postgres-compatible MPP analytical database with a vibrant and fast-growing community. Since the project’s inception, our team has been deeply invested in its success: contributing code upstream, shaping the community’s technical direction, and helping build a sustainable open-source ecosystem around Cloudberry.
